The Cumbria Energy Efficiency Advice Centre (CEEAC) was established in 1996 to provide free, impartial energy efficiency advice for householders in Carlisle. Expanding in 2000 to cover the whole of Cumbria, we have helped thousands of householders access information about domestic energy efficiency, grants for insulation measures and given hundreds of talks to community groups.

CEEAC is part of a network of energy efficiency advice centres covering the whole of the UK. Funding comes from a variety of different partners - The Energy Savings Trust, Carlisle City Council, Eden District Council and from many different funding bids submitted over the last 10 years.

In 2006/7 we:

  • Gave talks and attended 83 outreach events;
  • Gave advice to 28,000 households;
  • Helped 6,427 householders access free or discounted insulation measures;
  • Provided 67 training days, open days & presentations;
  • Provided advice and assistance to 51 householders installing solar thermal panels and 21 householders installing air source heat pumps.

From humble beginnings in 1996 with 1 part time member of staff CEEAC has expanded slowly but surely to employing 11 staff and several casual staff in 2007.

Project management plays a large part in our mission to improve the energy efficiency of homes in Cumbria and to date CEEAC has attracted over £4 million of funding to subsidise the cost of insulation measures.
